January · Day 21 of 365

First Light

New Beginnings

Scripture
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)

Reflection

God does not despise small beginnings. Many of the most beautiful chapters of Scripture began with a single, quiet "yes." In Psalm 139:23-24 we hear, "Search me, O God, and know my…" and we are invited to believe that the Lord is still writing good things into ordinary lives. You may feel behind, or unready, or undone — and yet He is at work. The seed does not feel the growth happening beneath the soil, but the Gardener does. Trust the slow, steady kindness of God today. Refuse the temptation to measure your worth by your productivity. Let your heart rest in the truth that you belong to Him. Whatever you face this day, He has already gone before you with a plan steeped in love. Begin where you are. Begin with what you have. He will provide the rest.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of this new day. Steady my heart, set my feet on Your path, and let me walk with You from morning to evening. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thought for the Day

What am I willing to leave behind to follow Him today?
